NYTimes on a new Kosher law in NY

I just saw an interesting article on the New York Times: State Offers Details Online to Help Determine if Food Is Truly Kosher. Based on the description in the article, this makes the new Kosher law sound somewhat similar to New Jersey’s laws, where the state basically asks companies why they consider it kosher, and the enforcement is to verify whether or not the company sticks to these guidelines. In New York’s law, there is a registration database that allows one to easily determine whose supervision is on a given product, while allowing agencies to define their own standards without government input. Sounds good to me.
