Yes, I've been away for a while. I didn't post while I was in Greece (pictures finally posted), nor the week after, due to a very pressured week at work. I have a new post responding to a Mishpacha editorial coming up soon, and I hope to resume technical posts this week. I was going to post about the funeral of a friend's mother in Sderot, but Jameel had a much better post than anything I could've ever written.

No improvements to the story mentioned earlier

I'm running tests almost daily... I found a new test that I hope will be informative. Check out dslreport's smoketest for my IP... we'll see what happens.

About four months ago, I switched from Bezeq ADSL (through my job) + BezeqInt ISP to Hot cable + Barak ISP. For 99NIS/month, I get 1.5Mbps download and a whopping (by Israeli standards) 512Kbps upload (Bezeq gave me 1.5/96). That's the good news.

Now for the bad news.

We had a mild-moderate strength earthquake here today. At about 10:15 in the morning, an earthquake estimated at slightly above 5 on the richter scale (precise measurements are not yet available) shook most of central Israel. For information, check out Google News. We're both OK-- CT was home, and felt it, I was on a bus, and did not. No damage reported.
