I saw an excellent post at The Smallest Minority relating to Memorial Day, and what vets have done for us, and what our troops continue to go through each and every day (both in the US, and our troops here in Israel). For those of us who do not have to serve, a reminder of what we've been spared; for those who do, another reason to say thanks.

Chaval that Haaretz has beautifully written op-eds disguised as articles, and A7 has horribly written op-eds disguised as articles.
Everyone's favorite hoax resource site, Snopes, has an excellent piece on Carrots and Eyesight. Their verdict: the story that carrots can improve eyesight traces back to the British's attempt to disguise a new radar system by claiming that pilots received carrot supplements. I knew it, Mom!
